1972 Volkswagen Squareback Wagon Type 3 Custom

This is a 1972 VW Type 111 Squareback custom wagon. It would take a small fortune to replicate all the time and money that's been lovingly spent on this car. Nearly everything on it has been painted, polished, plated, or upholstered. It won a Daryl Starbird custom show class award for Best Interior in the late 90s.

The owner died and we bought it from his estate. The car runs and drives now but needs some TLC. Some of the upholstery and trim panels need to be completed, and some attention to the wiring and gauges will be needed. The car needs a pair of slip-on mufflers and the front tires are marginal. Twin carbs and an Empi short-shift kit are just a couple of the things that make this car so much fun to drive.

There is an incredible amount of chrome on the car. That includes the axles, trailing arms, hood and trunk hinges and brackets, engine tin, deep sump oil pan, etc. The engine and transmission cases are painted to complement one of the interior colors. Even the floor pan has been painted, including some small colored graphics. The car was displayed at car shows with mirrors showing off the underside. The wheels are early 911 Porsche and should easily bring $1,000 on a quick sale if you prefer to run some other wheels.
